Persuasive Paragraph tween-dora.jpg

A statement I hear everyday is “Your sister and you look a lot alike!” But that’s not true! To start, our eye shapes are completely different. Although we both may have brown eyes, they look nothing alike! She has big and round eyes, taken after my dad, and I have smaller eyes, taken after my mom. Secondly, our hair colour and lengths don’t match at all natural, or dyed. My sister’s hair is more of a chestnut brown, which is now

borderline red with brown. Mine on the other hand, is a lighter brown with natural highlights of red and blonde which is very noticeable in the summer. Thirdly, our skin tones look like we’re from 2 different families. Melanie’s is dark and she always looks tanned as appose to mine, which is paler and hardly ever looks the least bit of tanned. Lastly, our smiles don’t look the same at all. When she smiles, she always has these little dimples on her cheeks, but me… nothing. I can admit to saying we have the same nose but that’s it, really! So next time you look at my sister and I, I hope you see the differences between us. Saying we look alike is like saying Tuesday comes after Friday.

Expository Paragraph

We all fight, get along, hate or love our younger or older brother or sister, but like my mom always says, “Your sister is the only person you’ll have throughout your life. People will come and go, but your sister will always be there.” So this is how to get along with your sister. First, when your sister asks you to do something, do it. But remember to ask for something from your sister in return. I know if my sister ever asks me to do/get something for her, like a shirt for example, I always say “Sure you can have it, but you better let me wear your shirt tomorrow!” In other words, make a deal. Secondly, do things you both enjoy. My sister and I don’t have much in common, and yet we still find things to do together that we enjoy. I am passionate about dancing, and my sister enjoys running and being with her friends, but randomly, we bond together by taking foolish pictures of ourselves. I don’t know why, we just do! If you were to look at our Photo Booth on the computer, there’s about 500 pictures and at least 300 are of my sister and me looking funny. Lastly, just remember how important your sister is whether she’s younger or older and treat her with respect. You can fight, that’s what it means to have a sister, but also love and care for her, because 9 times out of 10, she’ll do the same for you. My sister and I have a special bond that no one may ever understand, and you should too. That’s what sisters are for!

Narrative Paragraph

I remember dreaming I was in a castle, Hogwarts to be exact, sitting on the headmaster’s chair, living life, having fun, breaking rules, until I smelled a horrible, head-exploding stench. Somewhere along the lines of fried eggs on fire! I soon realized that was no dream! I opened my eyes the find the air a light shade of grey, with the smell of burnt eggs. I open my mouth to inhale some oxygen after holding my breath for so long, but instead of fresh air I got burnt air. It was like when you’re sitting by a fire, and a gust of winds swoops by and sprays the firey air into your mouth. I quickly sprung up out of my bed, made my way downstairs through the smokey air, with my head ready to explode. And the blasting fire alarm didn’t help at all. Finally, I made my way to the kitchen, just to find the one thing in my mind I knew that caused this catastrophe. Eggs, burnt, in a pan on the stove, and to my right, my sixteen year old sister, asleep on the couch.

Descriptive Paragraph

Quick! Where did Melanie go? You’re standing in the middle of a very large crowd waiting to get into your movie, with 1000 things on your mind, and now 1001; Melanie’s gone! You aren’t sure what to do, but you remembered what your mom told you before you left, just in case Melanie wanders off!
“Sir! Please, I just lost my sister! She’s about 6ft tall, big brown eyes, dark brown-“
“Sorry haven’t seen her!”
Panicking more than normally, you run and ask someone else.
“Excuse me, miss! My sister. She’s lost! She’s tall, smiles a lot, probably smiling now, she’s very forgetful but also has the SMALLEST ears ever so she can’t really hear and-“
“Not here, sorry young lady.”
You’re now sweating from panic, your heart is racing as if you just finished running a marathon, you can hear your heart beating like a drum throughout your entire body. But then you turn around and suddenly your body just stops moving entirely. There, waiting innocently in line to get some popcorn is the dark-haired, tanned, brown-eyed, big smiled, forgetful Melanie.
