A New Years party in Colombia is very exiting. It all begins when everyone arrives at the host’s house. There’s tables full of chips and drinks in the kitchen. Outside, there’s plastic chairs set up in a half circle, facing the grill. As midnight comes closer, everyone begins to countdown, like a synchronized choir. When the clock turns to midnight, their faces are full of joy as they hug and wish each other a Happy New Year. The fireworks illuminate the night sky beautiful figures and explosions that seem to last forever, they make so much noise that all you can do is look and point. New Years is better in Colombia than in Canada. In Colombia we always make lots of noise and some parties don’t end until after the sun has come up. Then there’s the climate in Colombia around New Years time its summer so we always have a grill ready for the big day. Everyone wears summer clothes and we get to spend the hole night outside watching the stars after the amazing fireworks, but in Canada it too cold to do any of that. Finally when your going home by foot or by car you can see the streets filled with people some cleaning up getting ready to leave and others not ready to stop, by the time you go to bed you can still hear the music in the distance.
